Track North runner earns provincial bronze

Track North Athletic Club's Jeremy Cooper, of Manitowaning, ran to a bronze medal at the Athletics Ontario Cross-Country Running Championships Nov. 14 in Guelph.

Competing in the Youth (17 and under) boys four-kilometre event, Cooper surged over the final kilometre of the race to move into the bronze medal position. Rob Denault of Newmarket won the race with Xavier King of Pickering taking the silver. The event drew 131 competitors from clubs across the province.

"This is an outstanding result for Jeremy,” Track North coach Darren Jermyn said. “They shortened the distance of this event this year from six kilometres down to four kilometres and Jeremy ran a tactically perfect race to put himself in a medal position.
